Additional Activities & Benefits

    Fundraising
At the annual convention, ISA members raise money for the ISA Scholarship funds with events such as the Silent Auction, Live Auction and Raffle tickets. Special projects and special people also assist in fund raising.

One of these 'angels' is Gordon T. Catanya, an artist living in Amsterdam. During the Amsterdam convention in his home city, Mr. Catanya donated one of his paintings to our scholarship cause and promised future sales would benefit the ISA Scholarship program. He is renowned for his portraits of the world's pioneer women aviators. Take a moment to peruse some of his work.

    Speaker's Bank
The ISA Speakers' Bank provides representative member speakers for local schools, clubs, scout troops and youth organizations to discuss aviation careers. A short program can be arranged with prior notice to ISA. The Education Chair handles all requests to ISA for speakers.

    Lending Library
ISA maintains a library of books, manuals and videos to help meet members' educational goals. We may undertake or sponsor research, information and supportive activities for Maternity/Family leave, Loss of License and related medical problems, furloughs, and other pilot concerns.

    Committee projects:
    Museums
Our Museum Committee assists in the setup of aviation exhibits which feature the contributions of women pilots to aviation history. We have placed exhibits in many U.S. museums including International Women's Air and Space Museum in Centerville, Ohio, the San Diego Aerospace Museum in San Diego, CA, the Ninety-Nines Headquarters in Oklahoma, OK, and the New England Air Museum in Hartford, CT.

    Airline Policies
ISA maintains a database of current pregnancy policies from airlines around the world to aid in those pilots who are attempting to better their own airline's policy and/or union contract.

    Aeromedical Advice and Support
The AeroMedical committee of ISA offers advice and support to fellow members regarding the special medical considerations of female pilots. We can help you with your questions about menopause and advice if you loose your medical license. Our Loss of Licence Committee (or more informally known as Ladies Of Leisure) is comprised of ISA members who are no longer flying due to epilepsy, and diabetes. A database is maintained of those members who have been through a particular medical procedure and are willing to support other members who may be going through the same process. This includes such problems as breast cancer, fibroid cysts, CFS, and reduced physical ability.

    'Firsts' Database

For many, it is interesting to know just who was the first female airline pilot to get hired by an airline, or maybe the first in their country. ISA maintains a database of worldwide FIRSTS that is available to the public.
